| Abstract: | The paper examines the concept of national development within the Nigerian perspectives and the problems associated with its national development. The role of education in national development were highlighted followed by the place of publishing and book trade in the promotion and support of knowledge acquisition and dissemination as basis for national development in all spheres of life. The need for the application of ICTs to publishing and book trade in Nigeria was proposed. It concludes that the Nigerian publishers need to fully utilize the ICTs so that they can cope with the development challenges of the 21st century Nigeria. |
