| Abstract: | Additionally to printed or digital books and journals, electronic information systems are an important part of the collection of academic libraries. As regards books and journals, the acquisition and collection development procedures are well defined; however, there is a lack of systematic overviews concerning the management of electronic information systems. This paper describes a framework for discussing the various aspects of the management of electronic information systems, including assessment of information needs, selecting, testing, acquisition, licensing, technical aspects and systems management, preparation for use, and information services. The emphasis of this paper is placed on the situation of university libraries in the field of economics and business. |
| Other Abstracts: | Elektronische Fachinformationssysteme sind - neben Monographien und Zeitschriften in gedruckter und elektronischer Form - ein wichtiger Teil des Informationsangebotes wissenschaftlicher Bibliotheken. Während für Bücher und Zeitschriften vielfältige Überlegungen zu Geschäftsgang, Erwerbs- und Bestandsmanagement vorliegen, gibt es wenige systematische Darstellungen zum Thema „Management elektronischer Fachinformationen in wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken“. In dem Vortrag soll ein Rahmen vorgestellt werden, in dem die verschiedenen Aspekte des Managements elektronischer Fachinformationen diskutiert werden können, wobei Themen wie Bedarfserhebung, Auswahl- und Testmethoden; Beschaffungs- und Lizenzierungsfragen; technische Aspekte und Systemmanagement, sowie Nachweis, Aufbereitung und Vermittlung dieser Informationsressourcen zur
Sprache kommen. Dabei wird von der Situation einer wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Universitätsbibliothek ausgegangen. |
