| Abstract: | This paper deals with an interesting theme for information professionals, which is the service historically offered to foster scientific research. During the XIXth century the Francisco de Zabálburu Library developed a large activity in spreading and communicating knowledge on social sciences and humanities. This study emphasizes the role of librarians in accessing to documentary sources and consolidating both formal and informal channels of scientific communication. |
| Other Abstracts: | Resumen: El trabajo aborda el servicio que históricamente han prestado las biblio-tecas al fomento de la investigación científica. Se trata en este caso de la actividad de difusión y comunicación en el área de las Ciencias Sociales y las Humanidades, que se desarrolló a lo largo del siglo XIX en torno a la Biblioteca Francisco de Za-bálburu. El estudio realizado resalta el papel de los bibliotecarios en el acceso a las fuentes documentales y la consolidación de canales –tanto formales como informa-les- de comunicación científica. |
