| Abstract: | Problems of quality control in the cataloguing of the "Daniel Cosio Villegas" (BDCV) library of the Colegio de Mexico, are approached and the important requirements of having clear library policies and rutines emphasized, which form the basis of many methods of quality control. Some of the methods used in the BDCV are mentioned. Quatitative criteria are submitted for revision in order to decide on an acceptable quality level for cataloguing of bibliographical records. This is achieved by focusing on errors which do and do not affect retrieval of bibliographical records from data bases. Underlying this is the intention of creating a quality culture which allows the elaboration of errors-free in first instance, and not as a product of subsequence revisions. |
