| Abstract: | This paper critically examines the main concept of Open Access, both intended as a movement and as a change in the economic model of scholarly publishing. How the internet revolution will change the world of scholarly publishing?
The paper will overlook some recent surveys analyzing economic and social aspects of the Open Access model. |
| Other Abstracts: | Quali mutamenti sono resi possibili dalla diffusione e dallo sviluppo della rete internet nel settore dell’editoria libraria? In questi ultimi anni si sta affermando, in particolare in ambito anglosassone e nelle discipline cosiddette STM (Science, Technology and Medicine), un nuovo modello per l’editoria scientifica periodica, che sembra sfruttare in modo più compiuto le possibilità offerte dalla pubblicazione elettronica trasmessa via internet. Questo modello è chiamato Open Access. Nel paper verranno enunciati in modo critico le sue caratteristiche principali, cercando di porre le basi per una valutazione della sua possibile sostenibilità a livello sociale ed economico. |
