| Abstract: | The current subscription of e-books in libraries of the public Spanish universities is studied. The analysis is focused on the offered contents, the functionalities of platforms and the user interaction facilities. It can be noted that 36 of the 50 existing universities support the subscription of at least one collection of electronic books. The universities of the communities of Andalusia, Catalonia and Valencia are those that have reached a greater implementation of this product. It is an emerging sector that needs a progressive acceptance on the part of the
scientific community. We consider that e-books will have a significant role in the new model of education supported
by the European Higher Education Area. |
| Other Abstracts: | Se estudia el estado actual de implantación de los libros electrónicos en las colecciones de las bibliotecas de las universidades públicas españolas, fijando la atención en los contenidos ofertados y analizando las funcionalidades de sus plataformas y las posibilidades de interacción del usuario. Se puede señalar que de las 50 universidades existentes, 36 mantienen la suscripción de al menos una colección de libros electrónicos. Las universidades de las comunidades andaluza, catalana y valenciana son las que han alcanzado una mayor implantación de este producto. Nos hallamos, ante un sector en pleno despegue que requiere una progresiva aceptación por parte de la comunidad científica. Consideramos que los e-books habrán de tener un papel trascendental en el nuevo modelo de enseñanza propugnado por el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES). |
