After reference books and scientific journals, electronic books represent the next level of evolution in the digital revolution. Its presence in libraries and their level of knowledge on the part of users is still low. But the development of specific collections by the editors, the development of online distribution systems increasingly refining and improvements in portable reading devices (e-book readers) are causing a change in this situation, so being checked with a turnaround on the
production and consumption of such documents.

Nowadays bookshops, the places where the commerce and circulation of books is conducted, have changed. Technology has a significant contribution to the evolution of bookshops, especially the web and the internet. E-bookshops are not confined by physical conventions, they are accessible by everybody and they facilitate the transactions of the e-consumers. They aren’t a shop in a building but a site on the internet. These developments had as a result the emergence of new terms and definitions of an e-bookshop. This work presents the features of an e-bookshop, its structures, the services that it offers to its customers and all the parameters which are essential to its “creation” and its functions. Finally, there is a brief presentation of the biggest e-bookshops internationally and in Greece and an introduction of a new trend, the e-books.

Using G. Mayans and Siscar’s collection of letters as a source of information an analysis is made of the printing process of one of Nicolás Antonio’s manuscripts ‘Censura de Historias Fabulosas’ [‘Censorship of Fabled Stories’]. This paper presents the different aspects of the publication of a book in the 18th century in their sequential order from the planning of the project to the marketing of the final product. Project funding, paper and fonts supplies, forme and page design, as well as the issuing of printing licenses by the authorities and proofreading are all dealt with. Similarly, issues related to the binding, advertising, distribution and sale of printed matter in the middle of the century of the Enlightenment are discussed.

This presentation intends to give a Latin America-wide account of the development of the Web-based Open Access movement. It provides a historical account of the class struggles between the capitalistic-driven appropriators of information-knowledge and the socializing and commonalizing forces, and it employs that as a framework to analyse the overall OA movement. It argues the capitalistic-driven pay-per-access publishing system is an irrational framework which should be put aside. It calls for all the OA advocates to build OA archiving and publication systems, by putting aside in the process the monopolistic systems of ISI and OCLC. It also proposes a model for both OA and E-LIS advocates in order to challenge the capitalist-driven appropriators of info-knowledge and implement, instead, a socializing-communalizing OA info-knowledge sharing estrategies: POLITICS (democracy) + SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY (for the human and species survival and ecology) + COMMUNICATION (to reach out all the levels of the public). It argues the capitalistic-driven pay-per-access publishing system is an irrational framework which should be put aside.

In this article I examine one advantage of the electronic book in comparisation to the printed book: Because of the possibility to store e-books easily without great costs, they are not likely to go out-of-print. To examine this assumption the out-of-print-rate of hardcover-, softcover- and electronic-editions is compared over the last twenty-five years.

Haiden, Gabriele
EC. Book selling.
During the last few years the Internet has been interfusing almost every part of life and economy in the western world. Companies are even more under pressure to present themselves on websites or to use the Internet for their work. This study aims to show on a specific example, how companies of the Austrian book market use the Internet, with a closer look on bookshops and literary criticism.
The research methods are a a survey with readers in cooperation with the book review magazine "Buchkultur" and five qualitative interviews with experts who are involved in the Austrian book market. In conclusion, it was found that the Internet can be an advantage, but also a disadvantage. Many companies are trying to integrate the Internet into their business and specialize on different interests.

Never be silent : publishing & imperialism in Kenya, 1884-1963
Durrani, Shiraz
EC. Book selling.
EE. Intellectual freedom.
BC. Information in society.
EF. Censorship.
Social communications are central to any social struggle. There is a sizable body of literature from other countries on the use of oral medium, newspapers, books and other forms of communications being used as tools for organising against a powerful enemy, as a training ground for cadres and for clarifying and developing revolutionary theory, ideology, organisation and practice. All this ensures a greater unity among those resisting oppression and exploitation. Thus revolutionary and liberation forces of Bolsheviks in the Soviet Union, the Communist Party of China, and in Vietnam had developed theories and practices of revolutionary publishing as part of their revolutionary work. This has also been the case during anti-colonial and anti-imperialist struggles in Africa, but very little of this has been systematically documented as an aspect of revolutionary communications policy and practice. While the
colonial communications systems have been reasonably well documented, the resistance communication systems remain largely undocumented and ignored. This book is an initial attempt to document this dynamic communications process in Kenya with its external struggles against colonialism and its complex internal struggles with overlaying divisions of race and class, Kenyan and foreign peoples. The main theme emerging from this experience is that people struggling to change their society always find ways of establishing their own system of communicating with the people they lead
and by whom they are led. Their mission of revolution, of change, of peace, of social and economic justice requires that they should never be silent. This was well understood and practised by the liberation forces in Kenya. They
were never silent.

EC. Book selling.
The aim of this text is to introspect in the most precise way a structure of book market. It presents results of data gathered – opinions, attitudes and expectations of Belgrade's concerning buying, reading and publicizing books. For this purpose, a specially designed semi-standardized interview was used. All information were collected directly through personal contacts, and no previously prepared answers were offered. The survey was conducted on the territory of Belgrade, among six selected groups, drawn on the basis of sex and age. As for the education level and personal income – they are around the average or above it. Members of groups could become only persons who read and buy books. A special interest was taken in market conditions, in ways of publicizing, and in places where books are being bought or read.

Trends in Books Publication in Pakistan
Mustafa, Khawaja
Shah, Syed Attaullah
EC. Book selling.
Abstract:
Writing and Publishing books in Pakistan is a complex undertaking; and to a large extent devoid of monetary gain. An average 1200 books were published annually during five year period from 2001 to 2005. Most books were published on Islam, Pakistan, Literature, and History. The Social Sciences, Humanities, Science and Technology are more or less been neglected by the Pakistani Authors
Strong areas in Authorship:
a) Books on Islam were the most favorite category of Pakistani authors (28.3%).
b) 23.9% books were published in the Literature Category was the second most favored category.
c) The third major category of books was on topics related to Pakistan 19.9%.
d) The fourth major category of authorship was History, including biographies and Travelogues 10.7%.
Weak Areas in Authorship:
a) Science, Health Sciences, Engineering & Technology all combined generated only 288 books out of 6113 i.e. 4.7% of the total books published during the period. The more serious matter was that the books published in this category are mostly elementary, secondary or undergraduate level books, and not research level books.
b) Social Sciences. Only 73 books; 1.2 % were published in this category, a lack of authors’ interest in social sciences such as Economics, Sociology, commerce, Law and Education was visible.
c) There was a serious shortage of authorship in Humanities such as Philosophy, Psychology, Logic & Ethics. 19 books 0.3%.

Atlantic Book Circuits: Books Sent in the Honduras Route (1557-1700). In this work we analyze shipments of books in the Honduras route, which traveled between Seville and Central America's Atlantic ports. We analyze a sample of 52 registers from the Honduras fleet, comprising 20 percent of the total. This has allowed us to locate the book lots declared for 34 ships, a total of 130 book shipments. This group of materials reveals key features of the books' little known arrival circuit through merchants, booksellers, and private individuals. Study of these intermediaries reveals some of the networks involved in the book trade. Study of the titles sent moreover reveals an important sample of European printed texts that arrived in the area of Guatemala and Honduras during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.

ED. Intellectual property: author's rights, ownership, copyright, copyleft, open access.
EC. Book selling.
An Italian annotated translation of Lessing's project "Leben und Leben Lassen. Ein Projekt für Schriftsteller und Buchhändler". Lessing attempted to emancipate authors from patronage. Therefore, he tried to give his work an economical meaning by applying Locke's justification of property: everyone is entitled to be the legitimate owner of all that has come into being by means of his or her work. However, when a book has been published, it can be copied; why should authors defend copyright in a situation in which most of the profit from their creative work is earned by authorized or unauthorized publishers?
How can authors get an income in a copy-friendly
environment and in a publishing system in which
publishers hardly share their earnings with them?
Lessing proposed a system of print on demand in
which earnings had to be equally shared among
printers, authors and publishers, supported by a
free circulation of previews.
In the age of print his project was doomed to failure. Now it is worth reconsidering as a very interesting solution.

An Italian annotated translation of Luther's "Warning to the Printers", in which he deals with the problem of Nachdruck (reprint) of his Bible translation. Luther does not advocate intellectual property, but relies on his readers' free evaluation of his work: an authorized version is more trustworthy than a Nachdruck because its author has personally checked it and can guarantee for it.

Purpose: This paper provides an overview of the e-book marketplace players and their services against a context in which e-books are becoming an increasingly significant category of digital resource. This development of the availability e-books could have significant implications for the future role of libraries and for library strategies, policies and processes.
Design/methodology/approach: The paper starts with a brief overview of the literature on the global e-book market and e-book business models offered by vendors to libraries. Analysis of the websites of nine e-book publishers and eleven e-book aggregators was used as a basis for profiling the main features of e-books (user-oriented features and librarian-oriented features) and the services offered by e-book publishers and e-book aggregators.
Findings: The e-book market is under constant change and it is important to monitor its development, not just at national but also international level. Currently, the majority of e-book vendors market to library, typically academic libraries, and publishers increasingly using e-aggregators to distribute their titles. Collections of e-books are expanding gradually and there is evidence of increasing uptake. Current e-book business models are complex and range considerably.
Value: The paper draws attention to the potential of the future importance of e-books, and profiles the uptake of the e-book marketplace in terms of main players and their services.

Book digitization is having a significant impact at all economic, business and legal levels. Concepts that had prevailed since the advent of the printing press more than 500 years ago have to be changed. With self-publishing, authors do not need publishers, and some indie (independent) are getting an enthusiastic public reception, selling hundreds of thousands of copies. For their part, publishers, who traditionally had been confined to one language and one territory, can easily reach a global scale with the advent of the e-book. Large multinational companies like Amazon and Apple have already landed in Europe, and soon they will arrive in the rest of the world. The e-book is not only a change from paper to digital but is also having a substantial impact on reading habits.

When in 1947 the communist regime have taken the action to control the book market and to subordinate the private sector to the central communistic headquarters, so after that many publishing houses clearly limited or suspended their activities. Such a fate shared Fable and the Fairy Tales Publishing House (Wydawnictwo Bajek i Baśni) from Krakow, which had been published “Kukuryku” series of books for children. In the present era, new technologies emerge; enabling the transition from printed books to the electronic ones. In this context, changes in publishing stages are inevitable and very fast (i.e. printing, transportation and disposal stages are skipped). Among others the present diploma thesis aims to investigate, for the first time, the Greek publishing activity in relation to electronic publishing and electronic books. Furthermore, the world trends on the subject, in developed and developing countries compared with Greece will be presented. The findings of this study arise mainly from the results from a questionnaire answered by a large part of the Greek publishing world.

The electronic or digital book (e-book) is a book published in digital form. It can either be an electronic version of a printed book, or an electronic born book (e-born book). An e-book contains much more information than a printed book (e.g., dictionary, pictures, video, hyperlinks, translations into different languages, etc.) The reading is done with specific software by using specialized electronic reading devices (tab, e-readers), ordinary computers or even smart phones.
The transition from printing to electronic publishing has led to significant changes in the publishers’ world. In this context, the business model has changed, in certain publishing stages such as printing, transportation etc.
Therefore, the libraries must be ready to face the new reality that is formed and be able to understand the changes in the publishing business, which are dictated by the introduction of e-book and the certain domination of it over the next decade.
The present diploma thesis is an effort that aims to investigate for the first time, the status of the Greek publishing in relation to scientific e-books. Publishers are considered "partners" of Greek libraries (including academics), so the study of the changes occurring is very important in order to develop any strategy.
After research we collected 655 email addresses belonging to Greek publishers, focusing in the scientific book. An electronic questionnaire was sent to them by electronic mail. The main topics examined were: (a) the degree of e-books exploitation by Greek publishers, (b) the advantages and disadvantages of e-books compared to print (from publishers prospective) and (c) their intentions for cooperation.

Jak gender studies wpływa na przyszłość bibliotek akademickich? Wizja biblioteki uniwersyteckiej według Roberta Darntona
Śliwińska, Milena

ED. Intellectual property: author's rights, ownership, copyright, copyleft, open access.
EE. Intellectual freedom.
Not only is this article an attempt of reconstruction of Darnton’s views concerning books, libraries and research but also shows their near future. The author is trying to decode a vicious circle which everyone seems to be within – librarians in academic libraries, scientists and publishers. The trap starts with high prices of journals – while libraries must pay for delivering scholarly journals, they find themselves not having enough money to spend on monographs. In this situation, when even libraries are not purchasing such releases, editors are not willing to publish them due to minimal expected income. It is becoming clear that this deadlock can be broken only by changing the philosophy of life - meaning moving scientists to “open access” publishing.
Scientific releases, published by editors’ associations, emerge thanks to public resources. However, they are inaccessible to regular tax-payers. The clue is that libraries are forced to buy their own people’s publications. This is becoming frustrating for most scientists and that is why they decided to share their work in “open access” manner. If such behaviour was promoted and maintained by research institutions it would give an opportunity for development. The most significant achievement here is that science can be made less dependent on economy and industries what obviously brings it closer to its very essence.

In January 2012, Kent State University Libraries
implemented a 6-month pilot project for a Patron Driven
Acquisitions (PDA) e-book purchasing model that uses a
combination of the acquisition services provided by the
primary book jobber (YBP) and the access services
provided by a well-known e-book distributer (ebrary).
Using the book jobber mediated PDA model provided the
library with selected discovery records that closely matched
specifications of the library’s print approval plan. This
poster presents a study that examines the role of the library catalog as a tool for e-book discovery and access in a new library collection acquisition model called Patron-Driven Acquisition (PDA).

Patron-Driven Acquisition (PDA) (also called Demand-Driven Acquisition, DDA)has been commonly used in academic libraries for acquiring ebooks. PDA is still relatively new; libraries have adopted it without an established guideline for best practices. The implementation of the e-book PDA model varies from library to library, so that this poster offers a systematic comparison approach to evaluate different scenarios based on ebook PDA acquisition and usage during 1/1/2012 – 5/31/2014. This work try to help libraries gain a better understanding of how PDA works under different scenarios, and choose the scenario that works best to fulfill their needs. Also we want to contribute to the debate on establishing guidelines for best practices in
implementing ebook PDA.

The aim of this paper is to show how a business model based on the manipulation of a need, is assuming the modification of the conceptualization of the book object itself completely innovative as a transmitter of information, thought and culture. This interference has meant through the concept of "culture for all" vision of changing some of the participants in that market. On the one hand the creator, as a key component in the development of new content. The editor, as settled business model. Bookstore, as distributors who maintain their link to the physical world. Libraries and agreements with Google to digitize selected by them in public domain works, recover its role of centers and defenders of culture, integrated into a much larger than they had hitherto defined knowledge network, and the user is the true beneficiaries of this dynamic market, and is the center of this business.

The impact of e-book in Spanish libraries has been studied from different perspectives where the issue is dealt with fragmented visions. So, university libraries researches are relatively common because they are the most advanced in terms of technology. This work aims to make a comprehensive study on the e-book and its arrival in the Spanish libraries until 2012, especially considering aspects related to acquisition and use of reading devices and electronic content. At the same time the following specific objectives are outlined: provide a theoretical frame of the eBook and approximate the birth of the concept "eBook"; analyze the technical evolution of digital content reading devices; and provide a study of the legal framework of the book. As result, a theoretical discussion of the concept of e-book and its possible future developments is provided and reading devices marketed until 2012 (primarily e-ink) are analyzed. Also there is a section devoted to the study of the publishing market that focuses on marketing models of electronic content and provides a comparison between the evolution of the legal protection of the book and challenges that intellectual property has faced during the period of study. In the last part of this work, a categorization of libraries and an analysis of usage patterns of electronic books are performed. These analysis serve as a preliminary stage to design a survey that has allow to extract usage statistics of electronic content and reading devices in Spanish libraries. Finally, the conclusions from the research, bibliographic references and some indices of figures, graphs and tables, and annexes complementing the thesis are given.

La biblioteca como escaparate: una experiencia de colaboración entre una biblioteca universitaria y una librería de facultad

We want to show the relation between the selection and dissemination of a book, when performed by the university library, and its usage. With this aim, we have gone beyond the usual parameter of the number of borrowings and we have taken account of its impact in facebook and twitter and the book sales in the faculty’s bookshop. We intend to highlight the librarian’s role as an agent specialized in the dissemination of printed materials within an information flow circuit that encompasses also the traditional paper book. Our work should open new ways for cooperation between the library and the bookshops in the university range.

Librarianship Critique: The Journal of the Sciences of Information Recorded in Documents is the international, peer reviewed and bilingual English-Spanish journal founded and directed by Dr. Zapopan Muela (PhD in Information Studies, University of Sheffield, UK, Full Tenured Professor at Nuevo Leon Autonomous University (UANL), (FOD); Head of the FOD-UANL Library; Editor for E-LIS Mexico since 2005; Editor for DOAJ in Spanish since 2015; and editor-in-chief of the journal) on May 31st, 2008 and ever since has published without stopping two issues per year, reaching so far 6 years and a half. The journal has served and will ever serve as a critical and radical plattform with a declared anti-capitalist, leftist, and socialist political ideologies against the new slavery of the increasingly greedy and rapacious capitalist and burgueois dominant classes, particularly on the part of informational and informational capitalism through their diverse fallacious cloths of neo-liberalism, neo-conservatism, of the social capital, cultural capital, human capital, and any other type of capitals. For a full description of the journal aims, scope, and description see: <https://sites.google.com/site/criticabibliotecologica/l.c.about>. Librarianship Critique maintains firmly its critical editorial policy against censorship and intellectual impostures within the sciences of information recorded in documents, at the same time maintains its editorial quality through a rigorous double-blinded peer-review process through an editorial board comprising 29 experts of the theory and practice of various sciences of information recorded in documents from different parts of the world: Argentina (2); Botswana (1); Brazil (2); Colombia (2); Germany (1); India (2); Italy (2); Mexico (3); Nicaragua (1); Peru (2); Spain (4); UK (2); Uruguay (2); USA (2); Venezuela (1). See the full profile of our peer-reviewers above or here: <https://sites.google.com/site/criticabibliotecologica/lis.critique.editorial.board> . New in this Vol 7 No 2 issue. Only 2 articles were published in this number, both from Mexico and 4 essays (1 from Mexico; 2 from Spain; and 1 from Uruguay). A reminder to our readers and authors, our journal is published twice a year, and that we receive contributions for articles, essays, and book reviews during the year long at any time. See here the instructions for authors: https://sites.google.com/site/criticabibliotecologica/l.c.instructions.authors . Send me your contributions to: critica.bibliotecologica@gmail.com, o zapopanmuela@gmail.com . Keep in mind the deadline for the next issue: June 30, 2015 deadline for Volume 8, Issue 1 (Jan-Jun 2015), where we’ll be celebrating 7 years of non-stopping anti-capitalist critiques, challenges, resistances, and struggles against the informational and cognitive slavery that dominant capitalist-bourgeois, neo-liberal and neo-conservative classes have tried to subdue all humans since more than 5 centuries, but that thanks to efforts such as ours, and those of comrades of arms anti-capitalists, leftists, and socialists like us the neo-slavery oppressors have not accomplished it, at least not in totalitarian and fascist way as the German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese fascists of the 20th Century did.

Open Science aims to provide open access to all items produced within the research process, primarily to text publications, research data and research software. Moreover, Open Science should also bring transparency in moderating processes (such as the assessment and the review of text publications or data) and the production and utilizations of para-informations (as impact metrics). Open Science proponents describe it as a efficient, innovation-friendly and transparent science because open information can be disseminated, reused and re-analyzed more quickly and easily than closed information.
The work is based on a multidisciplinary inventory of Open Access to text publications, Open Access to research data, Open Access to research software, Open Review and Open Metrics, all more typically in the STM subjects (Science, Technology, Medicine) to find than in the social sciences or humanities. Based on this synopsis the work is dedicated to the specifics of sociology, which is commonly regarded as a latecomer in the Open Science. It empirically investigates the prevalence and relevance of Open Science, Open Access to text publications, Open Access to research data, Open Access to research software, Open Review and Open Metrics in Sociology.

Library consortia have traditionally been formed in order to share print-based resources, but more recently have sought to enhance access to electronic journals. Their development has provided new opportunities both to evaluate their impact, and to identify the Critical Success Factors in cooperation in the librarianship and information field. This paper aims to review the key features of these consortia that are indicated by the literature and the extent to which they have been objectively evaluated. The key features include the benefits of consortial purchasing of electronic journals not only for libraries and their users, but also for publishers; and the different pricing and licensing models in use. This is followed by a review of the different approaches to the organization and operation of library consortia established for this purpose. This covers what is involved in forming a consortium, the different types of consortia and administrative infrastructures, and arrangements for negotiating with publishers and for cost sharing between members of the consortium. Finally the paper considers the challenges for libraries of working together in partnership. Evidence examined to date suggests that, whilst many of the claims made about the benefits of consortia may be valid, there is little empirical evidence to support most of them, and the various approaches to the organisation and operation of consortia have not been evaluated.

The Printing of Popular Religious Books in Barcelona During the Nineteenth Century
Gil-Solés, Daniel
EC. Book selling.
HD. Rare books and manuscripts.
HE. Print materials.
The purpose of this work is to give a brief and selective account of the publication of popular religious books in Barcelona during the nineteenth century. This century witnessed a massive expansion of publications on religion, especially in vernacular languages. This increase in religious publications led to the widespread dissemination of religious messages among the working classes of Catalonia. The article is divided into four sections. First, it reviews some recent discussions of the concept of popular religion and outlines a framework for the history of the liturgical and religious book up to the nineteenth century, taking this as a point of departure for the primary working hypothesis of this article. Secondly, it considers briefly the publishing world of nineteenth-century Barcelona, with particular attention to religious publishing in the city. Thirdly, it offers a select survey of popular religious books kept in the holdings of the Episcopal Public Library of the
Seminary of Barcelona, focusing on the five most important publishers in the nineteenth century, the titles that they published, and the themes that their
publications treated. Finally, some conclusions will be reached, focusing on the role of these publications in the dissemination of religious ideas and the spread of literacy, thus confirming the hypothesis raised in the introduction. All quotations from the sources cited are given in English translation, with the original text, in
Spanish and Catalan, given in footnotes.

C. Users, literacy and reading.
EC. Book selling.
Throughout the years, many forms of trade in used books and historic books emerged. Nearly all of them have survived, even though their role and significance vary depending on the given place and time.. It is difficult to judge whether some of these forms will triumph and dominate, while others will go into oblivion, although certain very suggestive and convincing publications or partial analyses and comparisons could lead to such conclusions. For instance, the Internet has become the leading mode in some areas of the market, marginalising more traditional modes, but on the other hand it is the Internet that actually creates new, previously unknown opportunities for those traditional modes. Moreover, the Internet has also boosted and popularised the secondary book market which was was formerly limited to antiquarians bookshops and street sellers’ stands for long centuries. Never before has the trade in the book assortment achieved this scale which is actually without limits as regards space or quantities. It was the Internet that tapped into the unexplored layers of assortment remaining outside the traditional cultural and commercial centres; it was also the Internet that has made virtually everyone who buys a book online exposed to the offer of the secondary book market. On the other hand, if the book in its paper form is soon replaced with electronic carriers, as has been recently predicted, then the secondary book market will gain even more significance. It will become the key repository of books in their traditional form which, as it appears, will not be abandoned in the nearest future.

GA. Information industry.
The introduction of electronic books and digital libraries, the diffusion of technologies such as electronic paper and ink and the popularity of reading devices such as Amazon's Kindle have changed our reading habits and the book market itself. The publishing world is starting to situate itself within the revolutionary conditions of doing business. The magnitude and impact of this situation is comparable to the invention of the press, and the professionals weren’t ready for this revolution. Innovation, Management and Trends of the Book Market tries to answer a number of questions the new reality poses to the industry: Where's the book market heading? What is the most significant threat? Do new technologies represent a danger to the culture of reading or an opportunity (or both)? What competencies do we need to continue writing, publishing, and especially reading?

Ranking of methods, techniques and tools for book marketing from the perspective of child and adolescent publishers
Taebi, Mahbobe

Noruzi, Alireza
EB. Printing, electronic publishing, broadcasting.
EC. Book selling.
Objective: The purpose of this research was identification and ranking of methods, techniques and tools for book marketing from the viewpoint of child and adolescent publishers.
Methodology: The research has used quantitative methodology, library and survey method, and a questionnaire tool. In order to identify the techniques and tools, we first studied all the related works in the field of marketing of books and cultural goods. Then, by studying them, the methods, techniques and tools were scattered and the researchers set them up in a table format to identify the elements that influenced the marketing of books. In the next step, all factors were made in the form of a researcher-made questionnaire and its validity and reliability were measured. The statistical population of the study consisted of active Iranian publishers of children and adolescents in 2016, publishing more than 24 books. In total, according to the Cochran formula, 72 publishers participated in the research. The SPSS software was used to analyze the data.
Findings: The findings showed that there is a significant difference between marketing methods based on Friedman test. Guerrilla marketing, direct and relationship marketing are the most important marketing methods used among the Iranian publishers and content marketing is at the lowest level. There is also a significance difference between marketing techniques among publishers. Results show that the most important techniques in each methods included: among direct marketing, catalog and direct post; among cooperative marketing techniques are most concerned with allocating credit to buyers based on their Internet purchases last year; among the guerrilla marketing techniques associated with a customer and an effort to create a sense of friendship; among the content marketing techniques of producing appropriate content; among the viral marketing techniques, the use of various media; among the Internet marketing techniques, search engine optimization; among the sensory marketing techniques of the variables of point of purchase (packaging and appearance of goods); among the techniques of the relationship market communication to build and maintain relationships with our customers. In addition, telephone and print advertising are the most important tools used by publishers in this field.
Conclusion: Given the limited use of winding devices in public places, it is recommended that publishers use these devices. In particular, a part of their book will be inserted on their website to encourage readers to increase their advertising through various media. Also, using the poll form will increase the awareness of publishers about the wishes and needs of users. Also, the use of content marketing is suggested by presenting book materials in various formats. Moreover, publishers need more effort to achieve the desired status.

Publishers of scholarly books about library and information science and communications are analyzed, as well as their publishing processes. The research method was a questionnaire sent to 263 Spanish researchers and teachers in these areas. The survey response rate was 35.5%. Thanks to these responses, main quality indicators for publishers were identified. Researchers’ working habits, opinions and attitudes related to the selection, editing and publishing processes of their books are also examined. Finally, as a more pragmatic result, the most prestigious Spanish and foreign publishers are identified.

The digital children's reading work. Devices, applications and content, written by professors from the University of Salamanca and researchers from the Research Group on Electronic Publishing and Digital Reading-Writing (E-Lectra) Araceli García-Rodríguez and Raquel Gómez-Díaz, contributes to the state of the question of digital reading, precisely, this particular perspective. Escaping from the commonplace of discussing digital reading from their predecessors, the authors, motivated by their profiles of experts in digital reading and writing, are fully concentrated on the key characteristics of digital reading and on all the benefits they can provide. , especially, to children's reading.

The stakes induced by the “digital revolution” which are confronted by the actors of the works of the mind are more and more important. Indeed, technological upheavals have spared no sector, so much so that the book industry, considered a low-growth sector, is also experiencing a major break, like cultural objects and artefacts. Technology is therefore now affecting the creation, circulation and ownership of the book, which, apart from its traditional print format, has also become digital. All actors in the book chain (authors, readers, publishers, distributors and librarians) are therefore forced to adopt new uses. The popularization of digital reading has inevitably increased the practice of illegal downloading of books, particularly through messaging and social networking channels. This article takes stock of the issues related to the distribution of digital books, particularly in its illicit dimension, far from the legal marketing circuits favored by conversational robots known as “chatbots” to offer prospects for the influence of the legal offer.

Commercial publishing houses dominate the academic publishing sector, and they discourage the sharing culture to protect business interests. Authors and institutions have no control over the publishing processes and they lose copyright on the works after publishing. The traditional model of publishing gives more financial commitment to authors. Self-publishing gives full control to the authors over the publishing processes. Open Access model gives the publications faster impact and greater user engagement. This article shares the experience of self-publishing an Open Access book in a higher education institution.

Biblical and missionary societies began to distribute Protestant Bibles and texts in Spain on a regular basis in the 1830s, through agents. One of the most important of these agents was James Graydon. He operated in Barcelona, where he published the Nou Testament in Catalan (1836) and the Biblia (1837) in Spanish. Both works were printed at the workshop of Antonio Bergnes de las Casas, in addition to other polemic and apologetic Protestant, which the colporteur distributed throughout the Mediterranean coast. Bergnes’ network of agents and the role played by press advertising were essential for the distribution of these Protestant works. They were met by a notable response from Catholics, in newspapers and in anti-Protestant texts, which deepened the debate on religious freedom and the freedom of worship.

This article investigates how the public management of the national universities seals operate in the publishing market, taking as an axis of analysis the marketing of books through a collective stand of the Red de Editoriales de Universidades Nacionales (REUN) of the Consejo Interuniversitario National (CIN) within the framework of the Buenos Aires International Book Fair. The period covered is 2014-2019. For publishers, this event means the possibility of meeting a massive and concentrated audience in a short time. Being part of this annual fair is an opportunity to disseminate and sell catalog titles, considering that, most of them do not have university bookstores or stands. Specifically, it analyzes how they position themselves among them, which are the books in the catalogs, how they guide the purchasing trends in the fairs, through areas and genres study, and considering the topics and preponderance that co-editions and translations have in the public choices.

The purpose of this research was to identify the touchpoints in the customer journey map of electronic bookshops.
This study was an “applied research” and was conducted by analytical-survey method, the statistical population of this research were those who had the experience of purchasing a few books from online bookstores and was included 670 people. The documentary research method (library research method) and a survey questionnaire based was used to collect the data. Finally, using the SPSS software, data were analyzed. Calculation of descriptive statistics indices and reliability were performed by the SPSS software, and also Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, binomial distribution test and Kruskal-Wallis test, and Mann-Whitney test were conducted by the SPSS software.
The extracted touchpoints were evaluated in three dimensions. Finally, 41 touchpoints were divided into three stages: pre-purchase, purchase, and post-purchase. According to the research results, only 10 of these 41 touchpoints were more important from the customers' point of view, which include the following items: 1. touchpoints in the pre-purchase stage include: virtual advertising, high ranking in search engines, reading of comments and ratings of previous customers of the store, popularity and commercial reputation of the store, design of the store website and instructions for using the store website; 2. touchpoints in the purchase stage include: interaction with the support unit of the store, and cash on delivery; and 3. touchpoints in post-purchase stage include: store notification for new products and after-sales service.
The results of this research showed that identifying and focusing on the touchpoints that customers use in the pre-purchase, purchase and post-purchase stages to communicate with electronic bookshops, allow bookstores to look at their products from the customers' point of view and identify the needs and problems of their customers. Also, by reviewing customers' journey map, bookstores can improve their strengths and weaknesses.

"There are certain constants in my work; "Alrededor de la jaulas" reworks to some extent the theme or motif of the story that closes my previous book ("Con otra gente"); its protagonist has traits in common with the little brat in another story, "Como un león" (Like a lion). In short, I am always writing about the same thing. I am a kind of vagabond humour, to use the only phrase I remember from Verlaine. If I made up my mind once and for all I'd send everything to hell, starting with this writing thing, which I suppose is born of that indecision, and I'd take to the roads exactly like that cute madman from Requena. While the day comes, I invent sadness and put my arm through the bars of the cage. Sometimes a foot. One day, as I say, I will pass the whole body".

La palabra del editor en las revistas literarias porteñas

The objective is to analyze the interventions of editors in the Argentine cultural press in relation to the changes in the publishing market at the end of the twentieth century. Between 1988 and 1998, editors wrote in literary magazines in regular sections for the same target audience of the books they launched into the market. Unlike earlier publications, when editors wrote for their peers, in the late 1980s editors became visible to the public. The editors' publications in Babel magazine and the interviews in La Gandhi Argentina were read from the perspective of history and cultural sociology. The editors in the act of taking the floor situated their practice in comparison with the recent past and marked the tension between the different economic logics of cultural goods. The figure of the editor appeared in the press as he lost space in editorial management and decisions were taken by the commercial and marketing area. In a country without publishing archives or national bibliography, the writings and interviews with publishers serve to reconstruct fragments of their work and the absent catalog, at least until the implementation of the ISBN.

The aim of this article is to analyze in the section "Trafico. Una tribuna para los mercaderes", which was published in Babel, revista de libros between 1988 and 1990, how publishers and booksellers thought of themselves in a context of economic crisis and changes in readers' habits. Inquiring into the changes in the publishing sector, we will delve into the analysis that the column's editors made of the recent past of the book world, with special emphasis on the loss of Latin American foreign markets, the buying habits of the public, the dynamics in the commercialization of books, the emergence of new contents and textualities, and the situation of the graphic arts in the country. The actors, from different perspectives, closed a stage of the book world as they knew it.

Concentración al cubo
Maggio-Ramírez, Matías
EC. Book selling.
A few years after the founding of Amazon and Google, when the Internet had not yet reached cell phones and bookstores only sold books on paper, people began to think about the process of publishing concentration and how it affected the book value chain. In December 1998, the Jornada Semanal of Mexico published articles by publishers Jorge Herralde and Daniel Divinksy. As privileged actors, they looked with bewilderment at the practices of the large groups, although they kept the secret hope of a "stimulating coexistence".

HD. Rare books and manuscripts.
In the 1940s, Buenos Aires had a boom in publishing production. Bookstores as spaces of intermediation between books and readers were made visible for the first time in a specialized publication for booksellers and stationers. In the following lines it is proposed to analyze how the relationships between bookstores, publishers and the reading public were represented in Paper, Book, Magazine. The transversal axes are the commercial management of the bookstore and the dispute over leisure time in which the book lost the game against other cultural consumption such as cinema, radio and magazines. The growth and creation of publishing labels brought with it the urgency for specialization in the sale of books. Toys and bookstore items would soon lose space in the display cases due to the increase in publishing production. Among the suggestions made in Papel, Libro, Revista to improve sales in bookstores were the preparation of catalogs with library techniques, and presenting the bookseller with summaries and reviews of books to guide them.
