English abstract

The article examines in a historical-critical perspective some editorial textual products produced in the past using computers or more recently with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems; and pays particular attention to the relationship between the activity of the human subject and the activity of the artificial intelligence system, with the intention of demythologizing the naive idea that artificial intelligence is capable of writing texts. This becomes apparent when we observe that texts are always the product of initial intervention by a human subject who configures and directs, and then often fine-tunes, in the final stage, an artificial intelligence software system.

Italian abstract

L’articolo esamina in prospettiva storico-critica alcuni prodotti testuali editoriali realizzati in passato utilizzando computer o più recentemente con l’impiego di sistemi di intelligenza artificiale (IA). Si pone particolare attenzione alla relazione tra attività del soggetto umano e attività del sistema di IA, con l’intento di demitizzare l’idea ingenua che l’IA sia capace di scrivere testi. Ciò appare in evidenza quando si osserva che i testi sono sempre il prodotto di intervento iniziale di un soggetto umano che configura e indirizza, e che poi spesso mette a punto, in fase finale, un sistema software di IA.
