English abstract

Starting from Giovanni Solimine’s career and from his decisive contribution to the culture, to the Library and information science community and to the librarians’ one, the article reflects on the importance and the necessity of a continuous and systematic exchange between scholarly and professional world, both for the knowledge’s advancement and for a qualified library service’s development, but also for the growth of employment levels in library sectors and for the awareness’ diffusion of the role played by libraries in society’s growth and improvement.

Prendendo spunto dalla carriera di Giovanni Solimine e dal suo decisivo contributo al mondo della cultura, alla comunità biblioteconomica e a quella bibliotecaria, l’articolo riflette sull’importanza e sulla necessità di uno scambio continuo e sistematico tra il mondo scientifico e quello professionale, tanto per l’avanzamento degli studi, quanto per lo sviluppo di un servizio bibliotecario qualificato, per la crescita dei livelli occupazionali nel settore e per la diffusione della consapevolezza del ruolo che le biblioteche rivestono nella crescita e nel miglioramento della società.
