English abstract

Using gendering as an artistic strategy, Daniela Comani rewrites not only the history of literature and publishing, but also the canon of general history, blockbusters movies and daily news. Over the years, Comani’s artistic research has included photographic and video material produced by herself, as well as images and articles collected from magazines and newspaper which she put together into an ongoing archive, from which she has drawn since the 1990’s and from which she continues to draw to create her works of art and her artist books.

Utilizzando il gendering come strategia artistica, Daniela Comani riscrive non solo la storia della letteratura e dell'editoria, ma anche la storia mondiale, il canone del cinema e delle notizie quotidiane. Nel corso degli anni, la ricerca artistica di Comani ha incluso materiale fotografico e video prodotto da lei stessa, ma anche immagini e articoli raccolti da riviste e giornali che ha riunito in un archivio disorganico ma continuo, da cui ha attinto a partire dagli anni Novanta e dal quale continua ad attingere per realizzare le sue opere d’arte e i suoi libri d’artista.
