English abstract

In Artificial intelligence and librarianship: notes for teaching, Martin Frické explores the connection between emerging technologies and librarianship, offering a comprehensive overview from the past to present and future developments. Aimed primarily at librarians and university faculty members, the book focuses on potential applications of Large Language Models (LLMs) in library contexts, combining a solid theoretical framework with concrete, practical examples. Frické integrates this exploration with critical reflections on risks and limitations, while also providing insights and suggestions for future implementation. A particular significant contribution is his analysis of the evolving roles of both librarians and AI within the field, paving the way for new forms of professional collaboration.

Artificial Intelligence and Librarianship: Notes for teaching di Martin Frické analizza il rapporto tra le nuove tecnologie e la biblioteconomia, offrendo un’ampia panoramica che attraversa passato, presente e futuro. Destinato principalmente a bibliotecari e docenti universitari, il volume si focalizza sulle possibili applicazioni dei Large Language Models (LLMs) in biblioteca, integrando una solida cornice teorica con esempi pratici. Non mancano avvertimenti sui potenziali rischi e limiti, così come stimoli e suggerimenti per utilizzi futuri. Particolarmente significativa è la riflessione sui ruoli che i bibliotecari e l’IA stanno progressivamente assumendo all’interno della disciplina, aprendo la strada a nuove forme di collaborazione professionale.
