English abstract

La data librarianship, biblioteconomia dei dati, e la figura del data librarian, sono ormai affermate, sebbene a livelli differenti in diverse realtà nazionali. In particolare, nelle università i bibliotecari da tempo si occupano della gestione dei dati della ricerca e questo ruolo si sta delineando con chiarezza. In Italia, quella del bibliotecario dei dati è una figura tutta da costruire e definire. Il contributo vuole essere una prima esplorazione sistematica del campo della biblioteconomia dei dati e della figura professionale del bibliotecario dei dati nei suoi diversi aspetti pratici (quali sono le attività) e metodologici (come vengono svolte le attività), con l’auspicio che possa stimolare l’avvio di una riflessione, ormai necessaria, su questi temi.

English abstract

Data librarianship and the role of the data librarian are an established reality in many countries, even though at different levels. Particularly, academic librarians have been involved in research data management for a long time and this role is acquiring precise features. In Italy, the data librarian is a figure still to be built and defined. The aim of the article is to offer a first systematic exploration in the fields of data librarianship and the role of the data librarian, both in their practical (what activities) and methodological (how activities are performed) features. The hope is to encourage the beginning of a necessary reflection on these topics.
