English abstract
If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to treat everything as if it were a nail. But is it really so? Some thoughts on what determined the evolution of the finding aids, of the publication of archival databases on the web and of archival information systems. In this article we will analyze several of the solutions adopted during the time, trying to understand if these actually respond to the needs of the users of the archives.

Se l’unico strumento che hai in mano è un martello, ogni cosa inizierà a sembrarti un chiodo. Ma è davvero così? Una riflessione su cosa ha determinato l’evoluzione dell’inventario, della pubblicazione delle banche dati archivistiche sul web e dei sistemi informativi archivistici. Nel presente articolo si analizzeranno diverse delle soluzioni, anche grafiche, adottate cercando di cogliere se queste effettivamente rispondano alle esigenze degli utenti degli archivi.
