English abstract

Open access publishing has emerged as a response to the traditional subscription-based model of scholarly communication, aiming to ensure free and unrestricted access to research outputs. In line with the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative and the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities, the University of Belgrade promotes open access publishing and self-archiving of research outputs in institutional repositories. The University of Belgrade comprises 31 faculties, grouped into four broad areas: social sciences and humanities, medical sciences, natural and mathematical sciences, and technical and technological sciences. All faculties maintain active publishing programs, producing scientific monographs, textbooks, and numerous scholarly journals.Open access and increased visibility significantly enhance citation rates and the impact of both authors and their institutions. Faculties within the University of Belgrade are increasingly transitioning from traditional print publishing to open access models. This paper presents an overview of publishing practices in the field of social sciences and humanities at the University of Belgrade. It includes data on the number of open access journals, the platforms used for their dissemination, and a brief bibliometric analysis of selected titles indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases.
