English abstract

This study examines the application of Heritage Building Information Modelling (HBIM) in the digital documentation and lifecycle management of historic structures. Using a mixed-method approach, it combines a literature review, software comparison, and scan-to-BIM case study of Castiglioni College, Pavia, Italy. The findings highlight HBIM’s effectiveness in integrating geometric, semantic, and historical data to support heritage conservation. However, challenges remain in modelling irregular geometries and integrating diverse data sources. The study emphasizes context-specific software selection and workflow design for sustainable architectural heritage management.
