The most important services of the Digital Library were defined and "ERCIM Technical Reference Digital Library (ETRDL)" was discussed (it's a distributed collection of grey literature in informatics and applied mathematics fields). Various presentations about Italian and european  initiatives followed: the SIBA system by the University of Lecce, allowing to access full-text documents in mathematics; an information retrieval system based on artificial intelligence, being able to automatically suit the user profile; a technical infrastructure for scientific collaboration at european level; new online SBN and another ICCU new service that is called OPAC99. Other projects that were illustrated: the diffusion of grey literature published by Istituto Superiore di Sanità; the ADMV project of a Digital archive of venetian music; Biblioteca Italiana Telematica; the Istituto Luce online archive; the european net for the best digital libraries called DELOS. The round table highlighted some observations about the importance and the richness of Italian documentation, some pessimism about digital libraries, the necessity of national strategies in order to carry out digital libraries...
