The case introduced in the article it concerns Chieti and its Liceo Classico " Gian Battista Vico"; with a problematic reading about the ecclesiastical origins of collections now the preserveded in the school. The context is the scholastic and librarian politics of the kingdom of Naples and of Italia, running through again the history of the provincial library De Meis. In particular the collection of Scolopi and its history is analysed in detail.
