<abstract xmlns="http://eprints.org/ep2/data/2.0">After to have remembered the reasons for which monks cultivated the transcription of codexes, the author  recall, with some examples, the activities of the writting workshops and the grow of the monastic libraries. The collections  from sagrestia moved to chiostro, in order to land finally, in humanistic age, to one specific room with plutei and shelves. In the second part the author explain how the monks of Santa Giustina's monastery.  were behaved in the cares of the culture. In the humanistic age there was a remarkable interest towards the book production. All started from the reform of abbot Ludovico Barbo; in fact from that moment the scriptorium was activated, the libraries collections increased, monks produced literary works and they edited manuscripts.</abstract>
