The present presents some reflections on the services of libraries to the Mexican indigenous communities. In the first part one exposes some theoretical and conceptual questions briefly about linguistic matters and librarianship. In second some historical antecedents are approached that more recently show the influences that had these indigenous communities on the part of the mexican culture, during the time of the Spanish colony, independence. Finally the present situation of the indigenous communities is described about their language and culture and some useful reflections for the implantation of services of libraries.
