The National Network of Public Libraries is the result of a Program initiated in 1987 that has objtive to create and develop modern public libraries in each one of the municipalities of the country. For that it has the technical and financial support of the Ministry of Culture, through the Portuguese Institute of Book and Libraries (IPBL).
