A bibliographic review is carried out on the current situation and the development trends of electronic publications. The origins, definitions, characteristics, peculiarities, advantages and disadvantages of various types of electronic publications, - among them, books, digital journals, newspapers, news bulletins, as well as the electronic libraries and discussion lists.
