In the time of enormous growth of the number of publications, the Depository Libraries are gaining more
important role. The Depository Library can be observed in two different ways: as passive and as active deposit. The passive deposits are stocking all that literature materials, not often requested, in other words, the materials that are not used for a long period. On the contrary, the active deposits are collecting less used literature, which can be loan, upon request, or they are specialized for a specific vocation, to promote and for a better usage of the literature. In the modern world, the Depository Libraries are acquiring a new role; they are no longer only traditional deposits, so called dead literature, but they are more actively participating in the process of exchanging information.
