The present work describes the criteria of selection of bibliographical material before the different products that the information market offers today. It presents problematics before the decision of a same product in average electronic forms, magnetic and /o to include in the collection of a Library, its evaluation, requirements and costs associated to his acquisition. The different sources of intelligence in magnetic and electronic means of applied support appear from the selection in the system of Libraries of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile.
