Library, Information and Documentation in Wikipedia Wikipedia is an international project to create a free encyclopaedia in multiple languages. Using a wiki thousands of volunteers are collaboratively editing articles with amazing success. The article gives an overview of Wikipedia’s history, growth, systems and its structure. Focusing mainly on the German Wikipedia, projects of quality control, subject indexing and library and information science within the project are presented.
