<abstract xmlns="http://eprints.org/ep2/data/2.0">The participation of the archivists in electronic records management is determined by two factors: first their strategic location within the organization and second their capacity to adapt the archival methods and tools to the digital world. This article deals with the second of those factors by focusing on how the three basic archival processes (classification and description, appraisal and long-term preservation) should evolve to be effectively incorporated to the electronic records management environment.</abstract>
