<abstract xmlns="http://eprints.org/ep2/data/2.0">Starting with a brief introduction about the importance of the local studies department today, this paper examines the so-called “minor materials” considered as components of the local studies collection. The concept of minor publications is defined and next ephemera, minor publications themselves and press cuttings are discussed. The last section focuses on the analysis of the so-called “grey literature” and the validity of its presence in its own right as a type of material in the local studies collection.</abstract>
