<abstract xmlns="http://eprints.org/ep2/data/2.0">The appearance of electronic books will bring about a change, which will mean a lot more than the simple introduction of a new format as a medium for the transmission of knowledge. This drastic change will modify social behaviour and customs in the human act of reading and accessing culture. The concept of the traditional book had not changed since the medieval codex or the way we interact with it. Libraries, as the main intermediaries between cultural and society, will change some of their services with the adoption of this new electronic format.</abstract>
