A comparison is made of subject assignment in several state-run public libraries in order to ascertain indexing consistency levels. For this purpose, eleven books dealing with different topics were first chosen and then located in the OPACs of several state-run public libraries picked at random in order to examine their index entries. The indexing consistency found is in line with the results obtained by other authors.
