Despite new technological advances, access to local collections via the online catalogue is still deficient. By means of the statistical analysis of a sample taken from a university library collection this study shows that the ratio of collective monographs vis a vis both the whole of the collection and the number of individual works contained therein makes it necessary to provide access to this type of works via the online catalogue.
