<abstract xmlns="http://eprints.org/ep2/data/2.0">At a time when new technologies and, in particular, the Internet, have been introduced into information centres, virtual libraries are providing the ultimate drive for the insertion of new work habits in the information chain. The characteristics of this new environment are making people in charge of virtual libraries think about both new management approaches and assessment techniques. This article focuses mainly on virtual library professionals, pointing out new skills and knowledge they must have in order to carry out the best management of their libraries.</abstract>
