<abstract xmlns="http://eprints.org/ep2/data/2.0">Electronic publishing is opening a new range of usage possibilites for articles published in scientific journals. Transfer or retention of copyright by researchers is currently under discussion. The author concludes that open access publishing is able to protect the intellectual property and that transfer of copyright to a publisher must keep the guarantee of allowing reasonable uses within the frame of scientific communication.</abstract>
