English abstract

This article shows the two main differences between Medline Advanced and Medline Express. These are relating to: 1. field in record structure; 2. up-to-date files. Between the two draft there aren’t differences about numbers of journals indexed. Medline Advanced has only an access interface where you can read 3500 journals, instead of 3700 for Medline Express: this may be caused by a print mistake. Actually, journals indexed are the same for both versions also for sub files. There aren’t any differences about bibliographic information retrieval, too. To sum up, it is the same database. Relating to information retrieval, the author deals with it at the point 2.

Italian abstract

Le differenze sostanziali si possono suddividere in due aspetti: differenze nella struttura del record, relativamente ai campi; tempi di aggiornamento dei file. Premetto subito che non vi sono differenze nel numero di periodici indicizzati tra le due versioni, sebbene nella maschera di accesso a Medline Advanced siano riportati 3500 periodici contro i 3700 dell'Express, ma si tratta probabilmente di un errore di stampa. In realtà i periodici indicizzati sono gli stessi come anche i sottofile che lo compongono. Nessuna differenza anche in relazione al recupero di informazioni bibliografiche data una o più strategie di ricerca, del resto si tratta dello stesso database. Relativamente all'aspetto recupero dati entrerò nel dettaglio al punto 2.
