English abstract

Artificial intelligence rarely discriminates on purpose. It just fails to find what never took a form it can read. This article follows that failure through a community’s oral memory that nobody got around to transcribing, and a regional word a search engine quietly swaps for something more generic. Behind both cases sits the same undervalued labor, often communal, often unpaid, of deciding what gets a chance to be found and what stays outside the map.
