English abstract

After a two-year feasibility study (2000-2002) and an initial stage giving way to work on the prototype of the new indexing language (2004-2006), the BNCF presents Nuovo Soggettario, an indexing tool shareable with other Italian libraries and documentation centres. The new system, aimed at producing specific coextensive subject strings and defining rules for citation order, has been developed in compliance with IFLA’s principles and ISO standards. The system includes various components which are connected and interactive thanks to the appropriate software. The Thesaurus; the rules governing both vocabulary and syntax and a body of instructions, consisting of syntactical notes connected to some categories of terms. The subject strings file will be developed in the near future. The new product published on December 2006 are: la Guida al sistema italiano di indicizzazione per soggetto and Prototipo del Thesaurus (available on-line) including 13,000 descriptors. The project will continue in 2007 completing further stages with the Thesaurus implementation and the refining of the appropriate software.

Dopo uno studio di fattibilità (2000-2002) e una fase prototipale (2004-2006), la Biblioteca nazionale centrale di Firenze presenta il Nuovo soggettario, strumento utilizzabile da biblioteche italiane e centri di documentazione nell’attività di indicizzazione per soggetto. Prevede un linguaggio precoordinato, aderente ai principi dell’IFLA, conforme agli standard ISO, orientato a garantire esaustività, coestensione, specificità. Il sistema è costituito da varie componenti: norme, thesaurus, istruzioni sintattiche e, in futuro, archivio delle stringhe di soggetto. I prodotti pubblicati sono: la Guida al sistema italiano di indicizzazione per soggetto e il Prototipo del Thesaurus (su web) contenente al momento 13000 termini. Il progetto proseguirà con l’arricchimento del vocabolario, l’avvio del multilinguismo, l’evoluzione di aspetti informatici.
