English abstract

This article traces the history, development and bibliographical control popular science and technology books in Kannada. It identifies the milestones in the development of popular science literature in Kannada and explains the need for popular science books in Kannada as well as the active role of Kannada publishing industry and public libraries of Karnataka in the development and promotion of popular science books.

ಈ ಲೇಖನವು ಕನ್ನಡದ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಗ್ರಂಥ ಹತೋಟಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಚೆಲ್ಲುತ್ತದೆ. ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯದ ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಟಣೆ, ಉತ್ತೇಜನದ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆಗೆ ಒತ್ತು ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಪುಸ್ತಕೋದ್ಯಮ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯಗಳ ಸಕ್ರಿಯ ಪಾತ್ರ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಗೆ ಆಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.
