Review of Barbara Schneider-Kempf, Klaus G. Saur, Peter-Klaus Schuster (eds): Wissenschaft und Kultur in Bibliotheken, Museen und Archiven. Klaus-Dieter Lehmann zum 65. Geburtstag. Red.: Martin Hollender. Munich: Saur, 2005. The essays compiled here deal with various topics in the field of museums, archives and libraries. There are academic papers as well as personal appraisals and humourous texts. Although it is a festschrift, the book is not only interesting for people who know Klaus Dieter Lehmann personally. For experts in the respective field, the individual articles perhaps will not offer much new, but the publication certainly offers reading pleasure and food for thought for librarians. One content wise point of criticism: Women are strongly underrepresented with only 9 of 63 contributions. Concerning the physical object: The typeface and the layout are pleasant, typos or misprints were not found, paper and cover are high-quality.

Rezension von Barbara Schneider-Kempf, Klaus G. Saur, Peter-Klaus Schuster (Hrsg.): Wissenschaft und Kultur in Bibliotheken, Museen und Archiven. Klaus-Dieter Lehmann zum 65. Geburtstag. Red.: Martin Hollender. München: Saur, 2005. Fazit: Die HerausgeberInnen haben mit sicher viel Mühe eine Fülle an Aufsätzen zusammengetragen, die trotz der vielfältigen Themen nicht beliebig wirken und gleichzeitig nicht nur interessant sind, wenn man Klaus-Dieter Lehmann persönlich kennt. Für ExpertInnen im jeweiligen Fachgebiet werden die einzelnen Artikel vielleicht nicht viel Neues bieten, aber ein großes Lesevergnügen und Denkanstöße für BibliothekarInnen bietet die Festschrift auf jeden Fall – bei den 574 Seiten auch für längere Zeit. Inhaltlicher Kritikpunkt: Frauen sind mit 9 von 63 Beiträgen stark unterrepräsentiert. Zum physischen Objekt selbst: Das Schriftbild und das Layout sind angenehm, Tipp- oder Druckfehler fielen der Rezensentin nicht ins Auge, das Buch macht einen stabilen und hochwertigen Eindruck, auch wenn der cremefarbene Schutzumschlag im Bibliotheksalltag wahrscheinlich nicht lange so schön bleibt. Der Preis ist mit 131,60 EUR natürlich kein Schnäppchen, aber auch nicht ungewöhnlich.
