English abstract

This presentation, designed for faculty members, presents an overview of why open access is necessary, and how to go about it. Provides samples of the high cost of journal prices and pay-per-view, definition of open access, and the two means of providing open access: OA publishing, and self-archiving. The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) new author search is featured, as is the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) Institutional Repository project.
