English abstract

In the frame of new services' growth of information organisation, the concretisation of protocol Z39.50 for search-retrieval of information is a common place. The majority of libraries allocate their catalogues, usually in on-line environment, with possibilities of search and recuperation of their bibliographic records, providing thus open access but also placing the bases for growth of other services directed in the practice of common use of resources. One of the resources are also the library's Authority Files, which the announcement, disposal and common use constitutes decisive factor for the improvement of interoperability of libraries. With given the de facto use of Z39.50 protocol, the questions that are placed are how much the application and its use in the processes of search, disposal and common use of Authority Files is feasible and in which degree it can contribute in the achievement of previous objective. In this frame, Bath Profile of concretisation of Z39.50, inter alia fixes also the specifications for search and retrievaal of Authority Files' records. The basic philosophy of Z39.50 for search and retrieval in the frame of architectural client-server remains, certain, identical, but henceforth source of results constitutes an Authority File (names, titles, subjects). Thus, the indeces of search as well as the form of results are shaped according to corresponding models, rules and governing directives (MARC Authorities, GARR etc.). Objectives of this proposal are, the presentation of search mechanism of Authority Files records using protocol Z39.50, as well as its concretisation in the system of access of information sources of National Centre of Documentation “Argo”. We believe that this work can constitute spark for the examination of problems that concerns the semantic interoperability of data in the frame of Authority Files' management.

Στο πλαίσιο ανάπτυξης νέων υπηρεσιών των οργανισμών πληροφόρησης, η υλοποίηση του Z39.50 πρωτοκόλλου για αναζήτηση-ανάκτηση πληροφοριών είναι πλέον κοινός τόπος. Η πλειονότητα των βιβλιοθηκών διαθέτουν τους καταλόγους τους, συνήθως σε on-line περιβάλλον, με δυνατότητες αναζήτησης και ανάκτησης των βιβλιογραφικών εγγραφών τους, παρέχοντας έτσι ανοιχτή πρόσβαση αλλά και θέτοντας τις βάσεις για ανάπτυξη άλλων υπηρεσιών προσανατολισμένων στην πρακτική της κοινής χρήσης πόρων. Ένας από τους πόρους είναι και τα Αρχεία Καθιερωμένων Τύπων μιας βιβλιοθήκης, των οποίων η δημοσιοποίηση, διάθεση και κοινή χρήση αποτελεί καθοριστικό παράγοντα για τη βελτίωση της διαλειτουργικότητας των βιβλιοθηκών. Με δεδομένη την de facto χρήση του Ζ39.50 πρωτοκόλλου, τα ερωτήματα που τίθενται είναι κατά πόσο η εφαρμογή και χρήση του στις διαδικασίες αναζήτησης, διάθεσης και κοινής χρήσης των Αρχείων Καθιερωμένων Τύπων είναι εφικτή και σε ποιο βαθμό μπορεί να συνεισφέρει στην επίτευξη του παραπάνω στόχου. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, το Bath Profile υλοποίησης του Z39.50, μεταξύ άλλων ορίζει και τις προδιαγραφές για αναζήτηση και ανάκτηση Εγγραφών Καθιερωμένων Τύπων. Η βασική φιλοσοφία του Z39.50 για αναζήτηση και ανάκτηση στο πλαίσιο της αρχιτεκτονικής client-server παραμένει, βέβαια, αυτούσια, αλλά πλέον πηγή των αποτελεσμάτων αποτελεί ένα Αρχείο Καθιερωμένων Τύπων (ονόματα, τίτλοι, θέματα). Έτσι, τόσο τα ευρετήρια αναζήτησης όσο και η μορφή των αποτελεσμάτων διαμορφώνονται σύμφωνα με αντίστοιχα πρότυπα, κανόνες και κατευθυντήριες οδηγίες (MARC Authorities, GARR κ.λπ.). Στόχοι αυτής της εισήγησης είναι, τόσο η παρουσίαση του μηχανισμού αναζήτησης Εγγραφών Καθιερωμένων Τύπων χρησιμοποιώντας το πρωτόκολλο Z39.50, όσο και η υλοποίησή του στο σύστημα πρόσβασης πηγών πληροφόρησης του Εθνι­κού Κέντρου Τεκμηρίωσης «Η Αργώ». Πιστεύουμε ότι η εργασία αυτή μπορεί να αποτελέσει έναυσμα για την εξέταση των προβλημάτων που αφορούν τη σημασιολογική διαλειτουργικότητα των δεδομένων στο πλαίσιο διαχείρισης των Αρχείων Καθιερωμένων Τύπων.
