English abstract

The paper regards to a proposition for coping with the problem of providing heterogeneous services through an integrated managerial system. The proposed system is being developed at the Panteion University Library and is complete at its main part as well as tested successfully. One of the main targets for the system is to demand minimum operational complexity on behalf of the librarians. Indeed, librarians are able to use an integrated management interface for entering data to different blocks, developing new services and (for example web forms or subject gateways), controlling logging facilities. Along with the other characteristics (such as scalability and interoperability) the system is innovative compared to other commercial or open source systems.

Η παρούσα εργασία αφορά στην κατάθεση μιας πρότασης επίλυσης του προβλήματος παροχής ετερογενών υπηρεσιών μέσω ενός ολοκληρωμένου συστήματος διαχείρισης. Αυτό χαρακτηρίζεται από υψηλό βαθμό ολοκλήρωσης διαφορετικών εργαλείων και υπηρεσιών και υψηλό βαθμό προσαρμοστικότητας σε νέες ανάγκες. Οι υπηρεσίες που υλοποιεί το σύστημα – ανάμεσα σε άλλα - αφορούν την ανάπτυξη ιστοσελίδας, εισαγωγή ψηφιακού υλικού, εσωτερική μηχανή ενοποιημένης αναζήτησης και ολοκληρωμένο σύστημα εισαγωγής χρηστών, παρακολούθησης και αναφορών. Η αρχιτεκτονική του στηρίζεται σε δομικά συστατικά (modules) που καλούνται Λειτουργικές Δομές (Function Blocks-FBs) και οι οποίες αντιστοιχούν σε εργασίες και υπηρεσίες της βιβλιοθήκης. Το προτεινόμενο σύστημα έχει αναπτυχθεί από τη Βιβλιοθήκη του Παντείου Πανεπιστημίου και έχει ολοκληρωθεί στο μεγαλύτερο βαθμό του. Έως τώρα έχει αποδείξει σε μεγάλο βαθμό την απλοποίηση της διαχείρισης των απαιτούμενων υπηρεσιών μέσω ενοποιημένης διαδικασίας δημιουργίας και διαχείρισης καθώς και την ευχρηστία του.
