Web and women sites: come le donne costruiscono la rete

the female community on the web is a strong and well defined subject. The web women sites, the web sites built by women, are protagonists in the information world and in the virtual communication, and through their heterogeneous aspects, they show a common will to improve their technical functionalities and their marketing tools, through a conscious usage of all the media offered by internet. The first result of the present study has been the identification of three representations of the female world on the web: internet as a new way of working, new technological tool, new communication media. The following step has been to trace some characteristics – techical, communicative and of content – among the sites reviewed, which define the web female scenery and allow to see development perspectives.

In Internet la comunità femminile è una soggettività forte e sempre più definita. I web women sites, ossia i siti costruiti e vissuti dalle donne, sono protagonisti nel mondo dell’informazione e della comunicazione virtuale e, nella loro eterogeneità, manifestano una volontà comune nel migliorare le proprie funzionalità tecniche e i propri strumenti di marketing, attraverso un utilizzo consapevole di tutti i mezzi che Internet offre. Un primo risultato dello studio qui presente è stata l’identificazione di tre rappresentazioni del mondo femminile della rete: Internet come nuova modalità di lavorare, come nuovo strumento tecnologico, come nuovo mezzo di comunicazione. Il passo successivo è stato il tracciamento di alcune caratteristiche – tecniche, contenutistiche e comunicative – tra i siti recensiti, che definiscono oggi lo scenario femminile del web e lasciano intravedere le sue possibili prospettive di sviluppo.
