English abstract

The Faculty of Health Sciences Library, AKU provides high quality front-desk services without any bias based on gender, education, race, cultural status, religion, disability, and User categories such as faculty, students, clinicians, researcher, general staff etc. Keeping in view the changing psychological, behavioral attitudes and expectations of the library users and high quality services, it has turned out to be exceedingly challenging to maintain high quality counter service for users. To evaluate and examine the present environment and to know about Users intellectual approach, further expectations and demands. A survey is being conducted for the library users. The survey form is designed and developed in view of AKU quality policy and environment, practices and prospects. For this study, we had circulated 50 survey forms (questionnaires) among the faculty, students, clinicians, residents, instructors, researchers and general users. Through this survey it was tried to know users approach to services, psychological and behavioral attitudes, users satisfaction level, users expectations, good and bad experiences, suggestions and recommendations. The most important element in quality coordination with the customers is the counter staff; a separate questionnaire was also circulated to the counter staff. In this questionnaire the focus was on their ability and their problems they face in counter dealing and what they expect with the customers and the library management.
