The verbal protocol informs about the individuals own cognitive strategies during the execution of some reading tasks or while those are remembered and offers quantitative information to researchers. The verbal protocol has been an important tool to identify the metalinguistics procedures towards reading. It is necessary to be attentive to the methodology used to collect and analyze the data obtained during verbalization.
