English abstract

This is a statistical research on CDS/ISIS users and bibliography. For users research, Its sources of information are the record of licenses issued by national suppliers and UNESCO (from 1980s up to the present), the CDS-ISIS international discussion list and CDS-ISIS databases available on the Web. It is intended to show user-distribution in time and geographical origin. As regards the bibliographic research, the source of information is a bibliography (books and articles) on CDS-ISIS developed by Ernesto Spinak and later updated by Cristina Ortega. This has been enlarged with other bibliographical references taken from other sources, such us the Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA 1969-sep. 2001). Statistics show geographical origin, language and author issues. Finally, the data from CDS-ISIS international discussion list were matched, with data from national suppliers, UNESCO’s distributions, CDS-ISIS databases available on the Web and journals’ geographical origin (from the bibliography)to learn the degree of use. Data management and analysis is done using WinIsis and some CISIS tools. The results (calculations and graphics) are shown in work sheets. In both cases, descriptive statistical techniques are used.

La presente es una investigación estadística sobre los usuarios y la bibliografía sobre CDS/ISIS. Las fuentes de información para la investigación sobre los usuarios, son los registros de las licencias otorgadas por los proveedores nacionales y la UNESCO (desde la década de 1980s hasta el presente), la lista de discusión internacional y las bases de datos disponibles en la Web. Se intenta mostrar la distribución de los usuarios en el tiempo y origen geográfico. En lo concerniente a la investigación bibliográfica, la fuente de información es la bibliografía (libros y artículos) sobre CDS-ISIS compilada por Ernesto Spinak y puesta al día, posteriormente, por Cristina Ortega. La misma ha sido acrecentada con otras referencias bibliográficas tomadas de otras fuentes, tales como el Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA 1969-sep. 2001). Las estadisticas muestran lo atinente al origen geografico, el idioma y los autores. Finalmente los datos extraidos de la lista de discusion internacional CDS-ISIS fueron contrastados con los de los proveedores nacionales, la distribucion de la UNESCO, de las bases de datos CDS-ISIS y el origen geografico de revistas, de la bibliografia, de modo de saber el grado de uso. La adminsitracion y analisis de los datos es hecha utilizando WINISIS y algunas herramientas de CISIS. Los resultados , calculos y graficos, se muestran en hojas de trabajos. En ambos casos se utilizan tecnicas descriptivas y estadisticas.
