English abstract

This article is about the need of that university libraries get involve in the task of extending the habit of reading among users. The principal activities of the university, the research and the education, have to see with the reading. It is necessary that the future professional have a more wide vision of the world than that of their own speciality.

Spanish abstract

Este artículo trata sobre la necesidad de que las bibliotecas universitarias se impliquen en la tarea de extender el hábito de la lectura entre sus usuarios. Las principales actividades de la universidad, la investigación y la enseñanza, tienen que ver con la lectura. Es necesario que los futuros profesionales tengan una visión más amplia, que la de su propia especialidad, sobre el mundo y su realidad.
