English abstract

The dissertation deals with the library that belonged to the painter Paulo Rossi Osir , and has been acquired by the Museum of ContemporaryArt from the University of São Paulo. It brings the historical context of the artist’s biography, who lived in Italy and Brazil. Discuss, also, his work among cultural associations, in which he has been envolved towards the most important decisions. The text concentrates on the description of the volumes that compound the library, offering a vision of the fundamentals of Brazilian Art.

Portuguese abstract

Este trabalho trata sobre a biblioteca que pertenceu ao pintor Paulo Rossi Osir e que foi adquirida pelo Museu de Arte Contemporânea MAC da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) em 1963. Apresenta os contextos históricos da biografia do artista, que viveu na Itália e no Brasil. Traz suas atuações nas várias associações culturais em que esteve envolvido e à frente das principais decisões. Concentra-se na descrição dos volumes participantes de sua Biblioteca, que oferece uma visão dos fundamentos principais da construção da arte brasileira.
