English abstract

The papers gives a short introduction to the Open Access movement and makes some considerations on the importance of OA for scholarly communication. It continues by describing the activities that the Italian Supercomputing Consortium, CASPUR, based in Rome- Italy carries out in support of OA, which includes the running of PLEIADI, the digital platform to access and search the Italian research output deposited full text in the Italian institutional archives, but also consultancy, hosting and training activities to implement istitutional archives and produce OA journals in Italian universities.

II contributo parte da un'introduzione dell'Open Access per proseguire poi con alcune considerazioni sull'importanza che l'accesso aperto ha per la comunicazione scientifica. Vengono poi descritte le attività che CASPUR svolge a sostegno dell'OA. CASPUR, oltre a gestire insieme con il CILEA, la piattaforma PLEIADI (Portale per la Letteratura Elettronica Italiana Archivi e Depositi Istituzionali), si impegna da anni a sostenere le università italiane nell'implementazione degli archivi aperti e nella produzione di riviste accademico-scientifiche peer-reviewed ad accesso aperto attraverso attività di consulenza, di hosting e di formazione.
