English abstract

The idea of an Italian translation of the document Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals comes from the need of a larger dissemination of a useful reference tool, addressed to both editors and authors, which clearly analyses problems related to the publishing process of a scientific paper in biomedical journals. These issues contribute to an interesting discussion and reflection on ethical and technical aspects concerning the management of a scientific journal, starting from the authorship to the conflict of interest, the peer review process, and the manuscript preparation and submission. In Appendix an Italian translation of the Flowcharts issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) is included to solve possible conflicts among editors, authors,reviewers and readers.

L’idea di tradurre in lingua italiana il documento Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals nasce dalla necessità di una maggiore diffusione di questo utile strumento di riferimento per editor e autori, che affronta in modo chiaro le problematiche connesse al processo di pubblicazione di un articolo scientifico in una rivista biomedica. I temi trattati consentono di avviare una proficua discussione e riflessione sui principali problemi etici e tecnici relativi alla gestione di una rivista scientifica, a partire dall’authorship ai conflitti di interesse, al processo di revisione e alle modalità di presentazione del manoscritto. In Appendice al rapporto si è ritenuto utile pubblicare una traduzione italiana degli Schemi (Flowcharts) prodotti dal Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)per la soluzione di alcuni possibili conflitti tra editor, autori, revisori e lettori.
