English abstract
The rapid growth of internet and its impact on human being is unbelievable. Today internet is being used in every human activity for one or other purpose. Internet has become a fastest growing mass medium. Internet has become a platform for new ways for searching of doing business, jobs, education institutions etc. Job searching is no exception to this, job portals are recent phenomenon. E-recruitment or electronic recruiting is the process of using internet based software to attract screen and recruit suitable job candidates. It is much faster than traditional modes of recruitment. This article is a study of online job portals for Library and information professionals. LISjob.com, GSLISgateway and Infolibrarian.com has been considered for the present study. The jobs posted on these three job portals during the month of 1st November 2007 to 30th April 2008, has been selected and detailed datasheets have been prepared to represent in the form of tables and finally observations were drawn. This paper is outcome of the unpublished project work submitted to DLISc,RTMNU, Nagpur, India for award of the degree in Master of Library and Information Science, for the academic session 2007-08.
