English abstract

This paper raises the origins and foundations of the discipline of Information Design. Is assessed and contextualizes his deep relationship with the Library and Information Sciences, and proposes an analysis of existing definitions, about the same, and other areas of knowledge related. Relations are established between the new electronic documents and actions to build on them.

Spanish abstract

Se plantean los orígenes y fundamentos de la disciplina Diseño de Información. Se valora y contextualiza su profunda relación con las Ciencias de la Documentación, y se propone un análisis de las definiciones existentes, sobre la misma, así como de otras áreas de conocimiento relacionadas. Se establecen las relaciones entre los nuevos documentos electrónicos y las actuaciones a desarrollar sobre los mismos.
