English abstract

The article points out the issues related to the design of inline digital libraries performing the function of public services, thereby taking account of the needs and behaviors of end users. Recent MINERVA Handbook on cultural web users interaction has provided a guide to these issues. Finally, a study on the prototype of Europeana has led to the emergence of the need for comprehensive studies focusing on users of digital libraries.

L'articolo puntualizza le questioni legate alla progettazione di risorse digitali in rete che svolgano effettivamente la funzione di servizi al pubblico, tenendo dunque conto delle esigenze e dei comportamenti degli utenti finali. Il recente Manuale per l'interazione con gli utenti del web culturale ha fornito una guida a tali questioni. Infine, uno studio effettuato sul prototipo di Europeana ne ha fatto emergere di nuove, soprattutto evidenziando la necessità di una messa a fuoco complessiva degli studi sugli utenti delle biblioteche digitali.
